Sorry for such a long Hiatus

Mommy life sometimes gets the better of me, and I apologize. Keeping this team going after getting so big from the start can be a bit intimidating. Well I have kicked my own butt, and yet again pushed myself to keep on swimming. Maddie is 5 months old now and becoming a bit more independent and opinionated, sorta like her mommy. But this team has become my sanity!

Our Etsy Craft Part last month was a breath of fresh air and EXACTLY what I think we needed. I hope those scarfs are coming along ladies. I still want to see them. Hell, I think you all should have to post a picture of it to the blog. Ready, set, go. The first member to do so will receive a special prize from yours truly!

Yve brought some yummy granola bars, and we had tacos, and cupcakes, Lori's amazing spinach dip and MUCH more. I think I had thirds.
When we arrived our first craft was to make party hats/ name tags. The rule was make your hat however you want but it has to have your name on it

It was so fun to watch each other get creative and out of their comfort zone.

We then knit with chopsticks which was a bit daunting for a few of you. But I trust by now you have a few inches going. Remember first to post their scarf picture gets a surprise!!!!!!

I am currently in the process of planning a craft night for this month. Hopefully we can have something planned in the next few days. Also the holiday boutique is in the works. If you or a family member or friend would like to have a holiday boutique in your home with YOUR guests, please contact vchandcrafters@gmail.com to set a date. I cannot wait to get this going! Theres a lot I want to do with you all as a team. Please be patient with me and help out wherever you can!

OUR FOUNDING MEETING AND UPDATES

We have canceled the farmers market until we apply for a sellers permit, also any member selling at our booths will need one as well. If you have not yet done this, please visit the VC Board of Equalization (BOE). Search for them on Google and get the address, which is located in Ventura near the freeway. This is a great first step in growing your business, and it's free.

At the meeting we went over the blog, the team and things we plan to do as a team this year.

As for the team we will be nominating a Treasurer and Secretary, once everyone gets to know each other a little better.

We are having a craft party on the 18th at Martha's (of Curio 60) home in Thousand Oaks. The address will be posted on the blog in the next few days. The party starts at 6pm and goes till 8. We will be bringing an appetizer to share, and knitting with chopsticks. Beverages will be provided. If you have any spare yarn to De-stash, please donate it. This event will be great for us all to get to know each other.

Starting in July we will be signing up the community to donate hats, mittens, and scarfs that are preferably handmade. We will however accept any store bought or used cold weather clothing and accessories. We will also be collecting unopened personal hygiene products. This Hats for the Homeless drive, allows us as a team to give back to our community. We will collect these items until September 1st. Please start signing up your friends, family, and neighbors to donate. Once we collect all the items, the team and some supporters will pass out mittens, scarfs, and hats filled with toothbrushes, toothpaste, soap, hairbrushes, etc. to the local homeless on Main Street in Ventura.

Also the holiday shopping season begins in July. Our team is going to start throwing local holiday shopping boutiques. They will work similar to a Tupperware party. The host will receive a $ amount in products from our members depending on how much their guests spend. If you are interested in hosting a boutique in your home, or vending at others, please let me know.

We had 6 members turn out for our first meeting, including myself. Amy from Fancy Funky Fresh will be chairing our communications Team. Martha from Curio 60 is the co-chair of our Fairs and Events Committee.

If you have any experience is arts/design/marketing/community outreach/social networking/or blogging we could use your help to get the team up and running. If you have never blogged before it is a great way to get your business and VC Handcrafted noticed. It is very easy.

With your help and our other members we can make VC Handcrafted thrive.
